Skylines & Silhouettes

These involve line drawings of distinctive skylines and buildings from which stencils are made. Powdered glass is applied over the stencil onto clear or coloured glass and the piece is fired. This may already be the second firing if background powdered glass colours have previously been applied to create a dawn or dusk effect. Subsequent skyline stencils may be used, each requiring the application of powdered glass and firing, to build up a layered, 3D effect. Once the piece is complete it undergoes a final firing over a mould to create the wave or curve, or the glass is fitted into a lantern.
